Join us at the Future Abbey Wood Public Exhibitions to give your feedback on our plan setting out how Abbey Wood should grow over the next 10 years. Please note that registration is not required to attend the event.

About the public exhibitions

Earlier this year, residents, community groups and local businesses shared with us what they value most about Abbey Wood, alongside the key challenges and opportunities they see for their area.

This feedback is helping to shape an emerging Urban Regeneration Framework for Abbey Wood, setting out a shared vision and strategic plan for future growth, investment and regeneration opportunities over the next 10 years.

Before the framework is finalised, we want residents to review the emerging ideas and help refine them. Materials related to the framework will be available to view at two locations - please come along and give us your feedback.

Dates: Thursday 23 July until Sunday 16 August.

About the Project

Abbey Wood has been identified as a priority area for an Urban Regeneration Framework because it is at an important moment of opportunity, with positive change already underway and more planned for the future.

The opening of the Elizabeth line in May 2022 has significantly improved transport connections, reducing journey times to central London and strengthening Abbey Wood’s role as a well-connected place to live, work and visit. Alongside this, new homes, community facilities, shops and employment opportunities are being delivered nearby in Thamesmead.

The Royal Borough of Greenwich and the London Borough of Bexley are working in partnership to best address challenges and maximising the opportunities. This partnership ensures that we create a unified, well-connected, and sustainable green neighbourhood that doesn't stop at a borough boundary.

Following our community workshops in March, we have developed a draft Urban Regeneration Framework (URF) for the area. This sets out a clear shared vision for how Abbey Wood should grow and improve over the next ten years.
