
#CelebratingBexley Survey for residents
We want to better understand residents’ and visitors’ views on cultural and art events in Bexley and the #Celebrating Bexley campaign.
This will help us understand the success of #Celebrating Bexley and to shape a culture and art programme that meets the needs of residents and visitors.
This survey is open to residents of Bexley and visitors of Bexley.

61 people gave us feedback on #CelebratingBexley. Thank you to those who took part and provided feedback.
The Bexley magazine and social media were the two main ways people found out about #CelebratingBexley. However there many other methods chosen such as venues, posters, word of mouth and the Bexley Green Points Platform.
54% of responses said they attend cultural events less than once a month and a further 10% never. 34% attend once a month of more frequently.
18% have never attended a cultural event in Bexley. 28% attend a cultural event in Bexley at least once a month (or more frequently).
Asking if people agreed or disagreed with the following statements:
- The #CelebratingBexley programme makes me feel more positive about the London Borough of Bexley – 59% agreed, 8% disagreed
- Bexley offers a good range of events – 49% agreed, 26% disagreed
- I am surprised by the range of events available in the #CelebratingBexley programme – 38% agreed and 20% disagreed
- I have seen events in the #CelebratingBexley events programme that I am interested in attending – 49% said yes and 26% said no
- I have attended an event in the #CelebratingBexley programme – 59% said no and 31% said yes
- When I attended an event in the #CelebratingBexley programme, I spent money at the event or with other local businesses in Bexley – 38% said yes and 34% said no
- I feel better after taking part in a cultural event or activity – 66% agreed and 3% disagreed
- Cultural events and activities make me feel better connected to other people – 77% agreed and 8% disagreed
- I am only interested in events that are free or low cost – 47% disagreed and 39% agreed
Over 93% of responses were from residents living in the borough but all options of visiting, working, studying and owning a business were chosen.
Respondents highlighted a desire for greater representation of Bexley’s diverse cultural groups. There was also a call for more arts and cultural events to be spread across the borough, rather than being concentrated in just a few locations.
A wide variety of views were given to make an event high quality and attractive. Many mentioned well-organised, well-advertised, and accessible and events being community-focused.
