West Heath Experimental Controlled Parking Zone
Following responses from a consultation in July and August 2024, the decision was made to trial on-street parking controls for six months and receive feedback during this time. This is an Experimental Traffic Management Order (ETMO), operating Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm.
Please see the map attached to review the area impacted.
Implementing an Experimental Traffic Management Order will enable the amended parking restrictions to be monitored, and impacts assessed. At the end of the period, the scheme can either be subject to changes or completely withdrawn.
Feedback is open when the trial begins, from 1 December 2025 until 1 June 2026.

Consultation July-August 2024
Several issues have been brought to the Council's attention since the opening of the Elizabeth Line (Cross Rail). As you are aware, Abbey Wood is one of the major mainline stations in Bexley, and attracts people from outside the area to park close to the station. Abbey Wood Station Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) operates Monday to Friday, 11.00 am – 1.00 pm around the immediate vicinity of the station. Due to the fact there is a CPZ in place around Abbey Wood Station it was reported to the Council that there may be parking pressure in your area. Following discussions with your Ward Councillors, the Council undertook a public consultation on parking in the West Heath area.
The attached plan shows the area of this consultation. This may not be the complete area of implementation at the end of this process. The area shown on the plan had not been consulted on this issue before. Since the opening of the Elizabeth Line there has been significant changes to the parking stress in the area which may have put pressure on residents’ ability to park in their street or near their houses.
The Council therefore asked residents to take part in this consultation to assess the issues in the area. The survey took 21 days from 12 July to 2 July 2024. Residents could fill in an online survey (before the introduction of the Ask Bexley platform), return a hard copy posted to them or email the given address.
This letter and survey was sent to addresses in 17 roads.
